3 Building Blocks of Success: Focus, Emotional Control, Attitude

With a Ph.D. in clinical psychology, Saul Miller is one of North America’s leading mental coaches. His work in the areas of enhancing performance and team building has helped organizations, individuals and teams be successful while dealing effectively with pressure, stress, and change. Over the past twenty-five years, Dr. Miller’s clients have included sport teams in the NFL, NBA, NHL, CFL, Major League Baseball, in Europe, plus PGA Tour golfers, NCAA athletes, and Olympians in over a dozen different sports.

In Miller's work with athletes, he's noticed that one of the real tenants of success is that you get more of what you think about. In other words, if you think positively, you will perform positively, which is why it's important for both coaches and athletes to maintain a positive approach.

Miller then discusses what is involved in this positive mental approach: positive focus, emotional control, and attitude.

1) Positive focus is how you think about yourself and what you have to do.

2) Emotional control is how you feel good about what you do.

3) Attitude is how you respond to what happens.
