Coaching Team Culture In Ultimate Frisbee

This resource comes from Bay Area Disc Association (@BayAreaDisc), a non-profit that strengthens the Bay Area ultimate community by creating opportunities for youth, club and adult recreational athletes to interact, develop and compete in leagues, tournaments, and pickup games. They foster positive playing and learning experiences and embrace a "Spirit of the Game" in all aspects and levels of work and play.

In this video Matt Tsang, a World Championship and Middle School Ultimate Frisbee Coach, discusses different methods of coaching ultimate. Tsang focuses on different warmup drills, team culture, and discipline. He gives advice on the best ways for his players to warmup before a practice or a game in a fun, yet effective way.

Tsang unites his team by focusing on the process of competition rather than winning or losing. He is all about teamwork and making sure there is no player domination on his teams. Tsang also gives advice on how to appropriately discipline players without being too excessive. Coach Tsang's methods are inspiring and should be a role model for all ultimate frisbee coaches.
