Meredith Prior, Head Coach of MethodLAX/Storm Club Lacrosse and North Andover High School has won Positive Coaching Alliance’s coveted National Double-Goal Coach® Award presented by TeamSnap for her positive impact on youth in sports. Prior has also created a program called Lacrosse Leadership to develop her players into leaders using lacrosse as the vehicle to share the why and how of what it takes to become leaders on and off the field. The program brings in mentors to talk with the girls and share their experiences in lacrosse which helped shape them into leaders. They focus on the characteristics and confidence it takes to rise to the top as a leader on your team, in the classroom and in the community.
Prior talks about the importance of having a good team culture for her lacrosse teams. She states that while winning is important, the connections her players build by being together and supporting each other are what last past their lacrosse careers. Uplifting and pumping each other up are a key part of being supportive teammates, and produce a positive team culture which everyone can be a part of—not just the starters or scorers.
