Basketball Practice Plan For Coaches Of Teenagers (Jr. NBA All-Star)

The Jr. NBA (@jrnba), a PCA National Partner, is the NBA's official youth basketball participation program for boys and girls ages 6-14 that teaches the fundamental skills and core values of the game at the grassroots level to help grow and improve the youth basketball experience for all. PCA played an integral role in helping develop the Jr. NBA instructional curriculum.

The curriculum features four levels – Rookie, Starter, All-Star, and MVP – that provide proper instruction to youth players at every level of skill development.

At the All-Star Level, players will begin to gain strength, quickness and the ability to better react to game situations. Practices will shift towards team concepts and competition, while still heavily emphasizing skill development. There is usually a greater time commitment required at the All-Star level as the number of team practices increases. The goal of the All-Star level is to begin applying skills and team concepts more directly into game situations.
