Jamie Young, a 2017 Double-Goal Coach® Award Winner, coaches football for St. Mary’s School (Medford, OR) (@StMarysMedford). Young focuses on capitalizing on the short time he has to influence players before they leave St. Mary’s, less in terms of winning games than in becoming “strong, confident young men, who make good decisions."

Young makes it very clear that the vast majority of athletes have very limited playing time in their lives. It is up to the coaches to put forth their best effort and be positive for this time period. The coaches have the be mature and help these players get more out of sports than just a few fleeting newspaper clippings and records that are made to be broken. It is up to coaches to use the game in order to teach valuable life lessons that will carry over into the world.
