How To Make Your Teammates Better

One of the most decorated female water polo players in the world, Heather Petri (@PeteIsAGirl) is a PCA National Advisory Board Member. She earned a silver medal in the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, a bronze medal in the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, a silver medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and most recently, earned a gold medal in the 2012 London Olympic Games.

Petri shares in this video what actions and attitudes she adopted to become a better teammate. Every day she would approach her teammates with intent and purpose, checking in and making sure she stayed in tune with their lives. Her practice of such sincere and continuous engagement meant she was ready to help when a teammate needed extra support at practice. It also made for a two-way street. Whenever Petri was struggling or needed some extra encouragement, her teammates were in tune in return because of the level of communication they had experienced through her efforts.
