Tom Bobadilla has been the National Referee Program Administrator for AYSO (@AYSO_Soccer) since 2009, leading AYSO's referee program.
In this video, Bobadilla explains AYSO's philosophy and methods for coaches and referees to support youth players. Both, he says, should work to keep soccer fun. When players make mistakes, especially obvious ones that can be embarrassing, such as giving up goals, coaches and referees can remind the players they are there to have fun and learn.
He also describes AYSO's process for coaches and referees meeting before games to remind each other of their shared comitment to providing for players' saftey, both physically and emotionally.
