Zdeno Chara: Sports Can Amplify Character

Zdeno Chara is a professional ice hockey defenseman and captain for the Boston Bruins. He won the James Norris Memorial Trophy while playing for the Bruins in the 2008–09 season. Chara has earned the respect of players throughout the NHL in his 23 years in the league, at 6’ 9” he’s the tallest player in the league and an exemplary leader and mentor.

Zdeno Chara discusses how his family helped teach him how to be a better person and build character. He also shares how this was complimented by his experience in sports. Chara starts here by explaining both how “sports amplify character” and about how “actions speak louder than words.” Finally, he says that sports should be about more than just winning or losing.
