When Coaching Athletes With Learning Disabilities, Ask Specific Questions

Dr. Karen Collins (@KC_UNH) is an associate professor of Kinesiology (Sport Studies) at University of New Hampshire. Collins research often focuses around coaching athletes with learning disabilities (such as ADHD) and the practical implications her findings have for coaches.

In this video, Collins shares that when coaching athletes with learning disabilities, structured practices, maintaining eye contact, keeping athletes moving and focused, and most importantly understanding how your athletes learn are crucial to development. Asking better questions and understanding how your athlete thinks is especially crucial when coaching athletes with learning disabilities.
