Tony La Russa: Developing A Player In All Aspects
Tony La Russa (@TonyLaRussa) is a PCA National Advisory Board Member, three-time World Series Champion manager and Baseball Hall of Famer. He currently serves as Vice President and Special Assistant at the Boston Red Sox.
In this video, shot at a PCA-Phoenix event that also included Diamondbacks Manager Chip Hale, La Russa expresses that the goal of the coach should be to “develop the entirety of the player.” Coaches are given a tremendous opportunity to impact players in ways that go beyond the sport. While development of the player is important, helping to shape individuals so that they can leave the program as better people is the ultimate goal.
