Tony DiCicco: Confidence From Coaches, Parents And Teammates

Tony DiCicco coached the U.S. Women's National Soccer Team to its momentous victory in the 1999 World Cup. As a PCA National Advisory Board Member (in memoriam), he was also the founder of the SoccerPlus camp & academy program in Connecticut and the co-author of Catch Them Being Good: Everything You Need to Know to Successfully Coach Girls.

In this video, DiCicco emphasizes the importance of players gaining confidence and mental toughness. While it is up to individuals to obtain and maintain those traits for themselves, it is possible for coaches, parents and teammates to help. As an example of how that pays off he points out how the 2015 U.S. team that won the World Cup had to call upon confidence and mental toughness to endure a stretch of not playing up to their standards.
