Teaching Athletes How "Relaxed Intensity" Improves Performance

Ken Taylor (@TheSpeedDr) played for the Super Bowl Champion 1985 Chicago Bears and is now a private coach, specializing in speed training. He was a three-time Pac-10 Academic All America at Oregon State University as a football player and triple jumper/sprinter, while also earning a bachelors degree in exercise physiology and sport science.

In this clip, Ken explains his "weirdness" as a coach and backs up the claim by shocking his new athletes with the statement that they will run faster with less effort. The caveat: "Your focus will have to be off the charts."

He stresses the point that athletes need not stress! They just need to concentrate on keeping their body parts where they belong to execute the necessary movement as efficiently as possible.
