Oliver Luck is the NCAA's Executive Vice President of Regulatory Affairs. Prior to this position, Luck was the Athletic Director at West Virginia University. He was an NFL quarterback and is the father of Indianapolis Colts’ quarterback, Andrew Luck.

This video, a product of PCA's national partnership with USA Football, shares Luck's insight into developing leadership skills in young athletes. Luck states coaches can help youth become leaders, and in addition to adult mentors, each team should have an aspect of youth leadership, as well.

Athletes who may not be confident in their leadership skills at the start of a season, whould become more self-assured leaders by season's end. Therefore, coaches should take care to put young athletes into a leadership position, allowing them to build a base for skills they will utilize throughout their lives.
