See How This Coach Uses A Mistake Ritual In A Game

PCA Trainer Cameron Campbell, here coaching basketball, employs the Positive Coaching Alliance "mistake ritual" during the closing seconds of a close game. Through physical and verbal reminders, he helps his players get past their mistakes and prepare for success on the next play.

He uses the term "Flush it," but there are many ways to teach athletes to re-focus after mistakes onto what's coming next, such as a "no sweat" or "shake it off" gesture. In high-pressure situations, such as the one in this video, a mistake ritual frees athletes from negativity so they can stay as confident and aggressive as necessary to perform at their best even after a mistake.
