Sandy Brondello on Team Culture Within a Sports Program
PCA National Advisory Board member Sandy Brondello is an Australian WNBA coach and former professional player. Currently she serves as the Head Coach of the Phoenix Mercury and in 2014 coached the team to a WNBA Championship, winning herself the coach of the year award. Sandy Brondello was also a professional player, playing in both the WNBA and in Europe, and she retired and started coaching in 2004.
In this video Brondello explains the importance of a good team culture and how team culture is essential for winning a championship. To build a good team culture she describes how the coach and players need to build relationships and build the trust necessary to play the team sport. To make a team work, Brondello also highlights that you don’t just need good players, you need the players that fit around your best players and concepts.
