Watch youth sport coaches from around the country put the principles from Play Positive and Positive Coaching Alliance to work with their athletes.

While coaches are limited to how many players they can start come game time, this coach manages to still reward effort and make everyone feel a part of the team. This approach is important to keep the bench players and non-starters happy. Charting effort, as shown in this video, can help a coach recognize and honor the players who work hard at practice but may not be recognized with time in the game. Ultimately, this creates an environment in which all players are "playing for their jersey" instead of for themselves.
