Mike Nealy: Parents Should Let Coaches Coach
A PCA-Phoenix Board Member, Mike Nealy (@mjnealy) is the Executive Director of the Fiesta Bowl, serving Phoenix and its surrounding communities with college football bowl games since 1971. The Fiesta Bowl was part of the Bowl Championship Series for years and is now a part of the College Football Playoff. Before guiding the Fiesta Bowl efforts, Nealy spent 8 years with the Phoenix (Arizona) Coyotes, leading the organization to record breaking sales and operating successes as President and COO of the team.
In this video, Nealy urges parents to trust their children's coaches to coach well. Drawing on his experience as a youth football coach, he reminds parents that their children typically spend a lot more time in and around their sport with their coaches that with their parents. Therefore, between the coach's expertise in the sport itself and familiarity with each player's skill levels, work habits and other tendencies, parents should just let the coaches coach.
