Marc Trestman On Success Traits

NFL Coach Marc Trestman is a PCA National Advisory Board Member. Trestman has 28 years of coaching experience in the NFL, Canadian Football League and collegiately. He is also the author of Perseverance: Life Lessons on Leadership and Teamwork.

In this clip, taken from an interview prepared exclusively for PCA, Trestman shares what he believes are the most important traits for success. He wants a team filled with players who work hard and who love the sport, in fact, he’s motivated when he has a locker room full of football players who work hard because they love the sport.

He also highly regards athletes who respect everyone involved. Part of that respect, according to Trestman, is humility. He does not define humility as a term of meekness; rather it means that a player understands that in order to be at his best, everyone around him needs to also be at their own best.
