Marc Trestman On Dealing With Players' Mistakes
Take A Course »
NFL Coach Marc Trestman is a PCA National Advisory Board Member. Trestman has 28 years of coaching experience in the NFL, Canadian Football League and collegiately. He is also the author of Perseverance: Life Lessons on Leadership and Teamwork.
This clip, taken from an interview prepared exclusively for PCA, features Trestman’s approach to mistakes from his team. Instead of turning himself into an enemy of a player who has just make a mistake, when the athlete comes back to the sidelines, Trestman discusses why the mistake occurred and what the player can better control next time. He knows his players work hard and love football, so punishing them for a mistake likely will not help them learn and improve.
