Katey Stone: Playing Multiple Sports In College
Take A Course »
PCA National Advisory Board Member Katey Stone (@kbstone9) is one of the most successful coaches in the history of Division 1 Women’s Ice Hockey. As head coach of the Harvard Crimson for the past 18 seasons, she has accumulated 378 victories and has led the team to several NCAA Championship appearances. She also coached the U.S. Women's Ice Hockey team to a Silver Medal in the 2014 Sochi Olympics.
In this video, Stone discusses why playing multiple sports at the collegiate level should be encouraged by coaches. While it is extremely difficult for an athlete to balance two sports and academics, Stone believes it's worth the effort if an athlete can manage to stay balanced. Most people have a short window to be an athlete since only a small percentage make it to the professional level, and she believes that athletes should compete and get the most of their experience while they can.
