Santa Clara University Head Women’s Soccer Coach Jerry Smith (@SCUJerrySmith), a PCA National Advisory Board Member, has established a standard of excellence few can match, ranking as one of the five winningest women’s soccer coaches in NCAA Division I history.

As Smith shares here, it's hard for coaches to look through all the inquiries they get from recruits, which can sometimes be 100 a day. What makes one of these stand out is when they include knowledge of the university, history of the program, and understanding of the schedule. This shows Smith and his coaching staff that a recruit has done research on his program. As he puts it here, if an inquiry seems scripted and non-specific, he sends the same treatment in a response.
