After his playing career in Major League Baseball, Jerry Manuel managed the Chicago White Sox and New York Mets. He currently runs the Jerry Manuel Foundation, which is a PCA Partner in the Sacramento Area, and he leads Major League Baseball's diversity efforts.

Manuel in this video reminds players, managers and coaches that umpires and other sports officials are trying to do the best they can. He emphasizes the need to treat them with respect.

Manuel suggests certain topics of conversation, including nuances and interpretations of rules before they become an object of dispute. He also recalls talking with umpires about the players and managers they respected most, which gave insight into how that umpire liked to be treated.
