Success in a long endurance race requires unique mental fortitude. When preparing for these races, not only is it important to practice mental strength with discipline and consistency, but it is also important to remember these grueling practices when you are mentally readying yourself for a race so that you can reassure yourself you are prepared to handle the physical stresses of the competition.

Even in an individual sport like swimming, the support of teammates is also crucial for success. Knowing you have the support of all those around you before you dive in is integral to performance.
