How An Individual Athlete Can Persist Through A Bad Day

Everyone has bad days from time to time, whether things don't seem to go your way, or you just woke up on the wrong side of the bed. However, there are ways to overcome, according to Missy Wright -- an assistant professor at California State University - East Bay and a former collegiate tennis player and coach.

One key is to develop and maintain the self-awareness to recognize when you are not at your best. Another is to come up with a plan for how to make the most of the day anyway. Often that means compromise, says Wright, so that even if you are not 100%, you can have an 80% day instead of a 40% day.
