How Coaches Can Motivate Their Athletes To Give Back And Do Good For Others
Jamie Young, a 2017 Double-Goal Coach® Award Winner, coaches football at St. Mary’s School (Medford, OR) (@StMarysMedford). Young focuses on capitalizing on the short time he has to influence players before they leave St. Mary’s, less in terms of winning games than in becoming “strong, confident young men, who make good decisions."
Young talks about the importance the coaching staff places on doing something good for someone other than yourself. He had his players go to a school and read to young students to help them discover what a joy it is to give back to the community. He is not only helping the community, but he is helping his players realize that they have the capability to help and do good for someone other than themselves.
