How To Coach Tee Ball Practice

Jeff Rodin (@JeffRodin) is in his 16th year as the Director of Baseball Outreach & Development for the Arizona Diamondbacks of the MLB. In this role, Rodin has revamped the community initiatives of the team by creating youth baseball and softball programs that allow Phoenix area youth to learn and benefit from the same tools and techniques as Diamondbacks players.

Here, Rodin discusses the proper way for coaches to engage youth in tee ball (t-ball) practice. For many youth, t-ball is their first sports experience, so it is important that coaches make it a positive one so that kids want to come back year after year. Rodin explains that a successful t-ball practice involves getting active with players, keeping it short, starting and ending on time, and having enough help from other coaches and volunteers to maximize the fun activity time for young players.
