How Character Makes Football Players More Than Just Football Players
Charles Way is head of the National Football League's Player Engagement department. He played five years as a running back for the New York Giants and then served as the team's director of player development.
In this video -- shot before a panel discussion PCA hosted, titled "The Future of Football From Pee Wee to Pro" -- Way explains that football players and other athletes should view themselves as much more than just that. Early understanding of how athletes can impact communities helps empower youth to develop into productive, contributing citizens. Way says here that he hopes players see themselves as "able to add value to someone's life."
