A Fun Drill For Young Beginners
Jed Mettee is the Vice President of Marketing and Communications for Major League Soccer's San Jose Earthquakes. As a former youth soccer coach, Mettee shares his approach to fun drills for young players in this video clip. Instead of having a small goal with a goalie, making it hard, if not impossible, for young soccer players to score, he would make a big goal and let the players shoot without a goalie at first. Then when the kids score, give them high fives and celebrate that victory. This positively reinforces what can happen in sports when you score, and it lets kids have joy in what they’re doing.
