Former NBA Agent: How To Evaluate Character In Athletes

Lon Babby, a PCA-Phoenix Board Member, is a Senior Advisor for the Phoenix Suns (@Suns). He is best known for his time as an NBA agent for some of the game's most respected sportsmen: Tim Duncan, Shane Battier, Ray Allen and others. He also spent over 35 years as an attorney, starting with the Washington Redskins, and is known today as one of the 100 most powerful people in sports.

Babby, who was known as a sports agent that valued good character, suggests here that he evaluated character by finding out the historical reputation of a player. Through his long career in sports, Babby also explains that although there are several ways to evaluate character, the quickest and most effective way to identify character and integrity was through the way an athlete interacted with people closest to them, such as family and friends.
