Coaches Recruit The Whole Package

PCA Trainer Ray Lokar (@CoachLok) has coached a variety of sports for over 25 years at the youth, high school and college levels, including his own children who are currently playing college and youth sports. Lokar has also served as the Head Basketball Coach of the 2002 California Interscholastic Federation Champions and the President of the Southern California Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association.

In this video, Lokar discusses how athletes need to be the total package in the eyes of coaches when they are being recruited. After talking to athletes who are not as actively recruited as they would like to be, Lokar noticed that they usually were missing one of the three characteristics that makes a Triple Impact Competitor®:

1) Making oneself better
2) Making one’s teammates better
3) Making the game better

Athletes need to fall into these 3 categories because coaches recognize these traits and are looking for athletes that will represent their programs positively. Using the model of the Triple Impact Competitor can help athletes be seen as the complete package and therefore be more actively recruited to play college sports.
