Ann Murphy, a 2017 Double-Goal Coach® Award Winner, is a soccer coach for FC Jaguars and Luther High School Soccer in Kansas City, Missouri. Ann Murphy is a Kansas City Police Department officer, pursuing a PhD with a dissertation focused on youth mentorship and gang prevention. She also plays for the WPSL’s Kansas City Courage (@KCCourageSoccer) and serves as a staff coach for the KC Courage High School Alternative Soccer Team and as a Staff Coach for Sporting Lee Summit.

On April 22, 2017, four national winners of PCA's Double-Goal Coach award—including Ann Murphy—took the stage at the 16th annual National Youth Sports Awards for a winners panel with FOX Sports' Steve Lavin. A Double-Goal Coach strives to win while teaching life lessons to youth in sports.

In this clip, Murphy shares her response to people telling her she can't do something. Her immediate reaction to being told she can't is to work twice as hard to prove others wrong and be resilient to that negativity. Murphy ensures that her athletes understand how important it is to never quit, no matter the score of a game, no matter what doubters say. Not only does she strive to prove all the doubters wrong, but makes it her goal to teach her athletes to "never quit."
