Chris Collins On The Types Of Mistakes He Prefers
Chris Collins (@coach_collins) is the Head Basketball Coach at Northwestern University. Before arriving, Collins spent 13 years as an assistant coach for Duke University, where he had starred as a player. He also worked closely with the USA Men's Basketball teams that won Olympic Gold Medals in 2008 and 2012.
In this video, Collins acknowledges how common mistakes are in all sports. But, he says, "We want the mistakes to come when they are trying something new and pushing themselves, as opposed to being afraid of making mistakes. You don't want players to play in fear of making mistakes because of what the result might be. We understand there will be mistakes, we try to minimize them, but when they do happen we want them to come from working hard and trying something new."
