The Challenges Of Nutrition For A Collegiate Student-Athlete
Katie Saylor (@saylorwillrun) played and coached Lacrosse at Division III Wellesley College. She continued pursuing her passion in sports by earning her M.B.A. and Master's in Sport Management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Katie spent two years as a member of PCA's Marketing team from 2014-2016. Now you can find Katie teaching, coaching, and advising students at The Nueva School (@nuevaschool). She became a PCA trainer in 2015 and loves to meet student-athletes from across the Bay Area.
In this video, Katie discusses the difficulties of maintaining a good diet when parents no longer provide your meals for you. When introduced to all-you-can-eat dining halls, it is tricky to maintain a diet that is best for performance.
This is a valuable learning experience for athletes who have not yet learned the nutrition habits that are most healthy and effective for performance in practice and games. It also may be a new test in discipline that contributes to athletic performance and other areas of life where that trait is important.
