Brad Stevens: How To Utilize Game Film

Brad Stevens (@BCCoachStevens), is the President of Basketball Operations for the Boston Celtics (@Celtics) and a PCA National Advisory Board Member. Stevens was the Head Coach of the Celtics until 2021. Stevens is most famous for his calm coaching style and demeanor on the sidelines. He is known for getting the most out of his players and led the Celtics to multiple Eastern Conference Finals appearances as the coach. Before joining the Celtics, Stevens rose to prominence as coach of the Butler University basketball team that he led to consecutive NCAA title game appearances.

In this video, Stevens talks about how coaches use game film to help players. First and foremost, it's a great way to show players what they're doing to help make adjustments. It's also used for scouting opponents to help a team prepare. This video was shot hours before the Celtics played against the Golden State Warriors, and Stevens talks about using game film to try to find a way to stop Steph Curry and Klay Thompson.

He also warns that people can get bogged down in game film. There's a window of opportunity for using game film to help an athlete improve, and as Stevens says here, "an appropriate dosage really helps."
