Advice To Sports Parents: It's Your Child's Experience

Mitch Belisle (@MBelisle85) is a professional lacrosse player, competing for Team USA and in the MLL and NLL. He played for Cornell University, winning the Schmeisser Award his senior year, an honor given annually to the most outstanding defenseman in men's college lacrosse. Belisle is the VP of Marketing for Triology Lacrosse, a lacrosse education organization.

Belisle's best piece of advice for youth sports parents? To remember that it's their child's experience. Kids need to be supported, and they want to hear that you're proud of them, but he suggests parents refrain from telling kids what they can do better. He says that when parents support the process and let kids enjoy the experience, that helps remove the pressures that young athletes feel.
