June 23, 2017 is the 45th anniversary of Title IX, and although it's helped women make great strides towards equality, there is much more to be done. For instance, there is still a huge gap in scholarship funding for women in collegiate athletics, there are still colleges with gaps in participation numbers, and there's more to be done to empower women at the next level, as a to coach or administrator. Title IX had helped to start level the playing field, but the next step is to continue getting women in leadership roles in sports after their playing careers are over. As Foudy says, "we're getting there, slowly but surely."
