This blog post from longtime PCA National Partner US Lacrosse illustrates the importance of athletes having a full emotional tank.

US Lacrosse Director of Programs Wendell Lee talks about why, in his experience, an athlete's emotional tank is a coach's top priority. Lee says, "We all have emotional tanks. If we’re honest, we know we’ll work hardest for the people who consistently fill the -- those who acknowledge our effort even if the results aren’t perfect."

Studies show that athletes who are berated for making mistakes tend to get frustrated more easily, give up more quickly and are less likely to put forth maximum effort.
