6 Steps For Sports Parents To Cope With Stress

This article starts off with a little self-deprecating humor to which many sports parents can relate. More seriously, though, the author delves into six ways a sports parent can cope with much of the stress that can accompany that role: Increasing understanding, Cognitive restructuring, Contingency planning, Coping reflection, Relaxation, and Seeking social support and information.

All six of those steps, explained and elaborated upon in the article, relate to stress over the child's preparation for competition, the heat of the moment during a game or event, processing wins and losses for yourselves (as sports) and helping your children process those, as well.

The article is housed at BelievePerform.com, which collects articles on sports psychology.
