This resource comes from Bay Area Disc Association (@BayAreaDisc), a non-profit that strengthens the Bay Area ultimate community by creating opportunities for youth, club and adult recreational athletes to interact, develop and compete in leagues, tournaments, and pickup games. They foster positive playing and learning experiences and embrace a "Spirit of the Game" in all aspects and levels of work and play.
In this article, Stefani Leto -- an ultimate frisbee mom -- shares how ultimate frisbee teaches her daughters life lessons. Leto shares three primary benefits ultimate gives her daughters:
A Voice: Ultimate is a self refereed sport, so it's a must for players to have a prominent voice during the game. It's also critical that players make rational calls with their opponents.
A Body: Ultimate requires jumping, running, diving, and throwing a disc so players have to be agile and quick on their feet. They have to be strong and focused throughout the game.
A Tribe: Ultimate requires teamwork and togetherness. If the team loses, they support each other and if the team wins they celebrate together.
