Oliver Luck is the NCAA's Executive Vice President of Regulatory Affairs. Prior to this position, Luck was the Athletic Director at West Virginia University. He was an NFL quarterback and is the father of Indianapolis Colts’ quarterback, Andrew Luck.

Created in conjunction with USA Football, a PCA National Partner, this video explains the importance of communicating with young athletes and recognizing they are still learning the sport. For example, Luck suggests that when talking to younger athletes, coaches can get down onto their level or height to avoid a sense of intimidation.

Additionally, Luck mentions the importance of focusing on positivity because youth can often recognize their mistakes without being told them. Thus, it is imporant not to elaborate on those obvious mistakes, but rather to focus on the positive while still discussing how to improve. Lastly, Luck adds that once the athlete has overcome a barrier it is crucial to recognize and praise the athlete.
