When Coaches Communicate Effectively, Athletes Believe In The Message

Jesse Mermuys is an Assistant Coach for the Sacramento Kings. Before joining the Kings, Mermuys was the Assistant Coach of the Lakers, and before that, Head Coach and Assistant GM of the Toronto Raptors D-League basketball team, the Raptors 905. Before his position with the Raptors 905, he was a former Assistant Coach for both the Toronto Raptors and the Houston Rockets, where he also worked as Director of Player Personnel.

In this video, Mermuys shares how important it is for coaches to communicate well with one another. To Mermuys, positive, effective communication between coaches drastically impacts the athletes on the team. Because there are so many ideas that can be lost in translation, Mermuys urges coaches to over-communicate. Players can easily tell when coaches don't agree with one another, so it's important that coaches are communicating well and putting forth a unified message so they can get athletes to believe in their message as well.
