Matt Kata (@k8apiece) is a former Major League Baseball player and the Cleveland Indians Manager of Youth Baseball Development & Initiatives. Kata graduated from St. Ignatius High School in Cleveland, Ohio.

Kata emphasizes how important it is for kids to try all kinds of sports. It is crucial to development that kids get a well-rounded athletic experience. No coach should restrict players from playing other sports. In fact, a good coach would encourage his players to pursue other sports during off seasons. Specialization in kids is not healthy and often leads injuries and loss of interest.
