Tony La Russa (@TonyLaRussa) is a PCA National Advisory Board Member, three-time World Series Champion manager and Baseball Hall of Famer. He currently serves as Chief Baseball Analyst/Advisor for the Arizona Diamondbacks.

In this video, La Russa explains how a coach influences the tone of practice and other interactions with his/her team. He says that coaches have the first opportunity to set the tempo. If players see that their coach is enthusiastic, it will set a better stage for a good practice than if players sense that their coach is in a bad mood. Coaches need to understand that their demeanor does not only affect themselves, but the team as a whole.
