Steve Young On Getting Rid Of Hazing
Steve Young, a PCA National Advisory Board Member, won three Super Bowl titles, was twice selected as the league's Most Valuable Player, and in 2005 entered the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He currently serves as an ESPN football analyst.
In this clip, Steve Young passionately discusses why he believes that welcoming new players to a team should happen without the use of hazing. What’s hard to change is a history of hazing, often inculcated in team traditions. Young hopes that players show courage to make a change so that initiation doesn’t turn into hazing. Once this shift occurs, it will have a lasting impact on the team and the future of new team member initiations.
