Rick Davis, a PCA National Advisory Board Member, is a retired professional soccer player and former member of the U.S. National Team. He played with the New York Cosmos of the North American Soccer League, and was named Player of the Year in 1979. Davis was elected to the National Soccer Hall of Fame in 2001 and served as Executive Director of AYSO.

Davis has played with some of the world’s most famous soccer players, including World Cup star Pelé, who was his teammate on the New York Cosmos. In this video clip, Davis talks about the incredible experience of playing with his idol. He shares that what he remembers more than anything was Pelé’s admirable character. This, Davis asserts, is what makes Pelé the greatest player in the history of soccer. Anyone involved in youth sports can take inspiration on the importance of character development from this video and share it in ways that positively impact youth.
