Rick Davis on Coaching PeeWees and Pro's

Rick Davis, a PCA National Advisory Board Member, is a retired professional soccer player and former member of the U.S. National Team. He played with the New York Cosmos of the North American Soccer League, and was named Player of the Year in 1979. Davis was elected to the National Soccer Hall of Fame in 2001 and served as Executive Director of AYSO.

Davis has coached at all levels, and he shares in this clip that his approach is always the same: to help people grow and become their best. Most importantly, this is reflected in positive coaching. While expectations are higher for professionals, the coach's attitude and goal remain the same: Leading players to the limits of their athletic capabilities and then beyond. In youth sports this is still the case, except kids are still learning the basics and their abilities aren’t at the same level.
