Matthew Slater has played for the Patriots in the NFL since 2008 and is the teams’ longest tenured player. Elected Special Teams Captain by his teammates in his third season, Slater has served as a team captain for a decade. Slater is the Patriots’ representative to both the NFL Players’ Association and the United Way. Slater also runs the team’s Bible study. In 12 years in the NFL, Slater has been a 9X Pro Bowl selection, 3X Super Bowl Champion, and, like his father NFL Hall of Famer Jackie Slater, been awarded the Bart Starr Award for exemplifying character and leadership at home, on the field, and in the community. In these video clips, Slater is interviewed by Devin McCourty, who has served as a Patriots captain alongside Slater for many years, and Jason McCourty, who served as a Patriots captain alongside Slater and Devin in the 2020-21 season.
