Parents' Role In The Recruiting Process

Stewart Brown is a former player for England's Queens Park Rangers F.C., current head girl's soccer coach for perennial Dallas-area powerhouse Highland Park High School and the Director of Coaching for the Highland Park Soccer Academy. He also earlier coached for Southern Methodist University, leading the team to four conference championships and four NCAA Tournament appearances in four years.

In this video, Brown explains that high school student-athletes who want to play in college, must proactively seek those opportunities. Parents can guide them well by reducing pressure to win scholarships and broadening college possibilities beyond playing at the Division I level. Athletes and parents alike should consider which school provides the overall best fit academically, socially and in terms of an athletic career.
