Mark Murphy is president and CEO of the NFL's Green Bay Packers (@packers) and a member of PCA's National Advisory Board. Before joining the Packers, Murphy served as athletic director for Colgate University and Northwestern University. Earlier, he was an All-Pro defensive back for the NFL's Washington, DC franchise.

According to Mark, the best coaches have good communication skills and are able to relate to their players, whether they are coaching professionals or at the youth sports level. At the youth level in particular he emphasizes that athletics are not all about winning, and that life lessons about teamwork and dedication can be learned from both wins and losses.

Additionally, a great coach can have a positive impact on an impressionable player. Mark says that throughout his career, he was fortunate enough to have talented coaches who greatly impacted his life.
