Oliver Luck As A Sports Parent To His Son, NFL Quarterback Andrew Luck

Oliver Luck is the new NCAA Executive Vice President of Regulatory Affairs. Prior to this position, Luck has been the West Virginia Athletic Director since 2010. He is father to Heisman Trophy winner and Indianapolis Colts’ quarterback, Andrew Luck.

As the father of a high-profile athlete, Luck talks in this video about how he helps his son deal with the pressures of his position. It’s often hard for young athletes to keep a level head when getting so much attention, so Luck always tried to help Andrew keep things in perspective and treat him like a normal even as Andrew continued his rise to NFL stardom. Often that means talking about subjects other than football, to divert attention away from what he spends most of his time doing and to provide a reality check on other aspects of life.
